Artist bio:
Theodore “Ted” Turner was an American painter and art professor associated with Charlottesville, Virginia. He studied at Richmond Professional Institute, now Virginia Commonwealth University, and earned an MFA from New York University. Turner taught at the University of Virginia and Dartmouth College and maintained a studio in Charlottesville’s Belmont neighborhood. His work spans oil, acrylic, watercolor, block print, and mixed media, with subjects including landscapes, seascapes, portraits, nudes, city scenes, and abstract compositions. His paintings have been admired for expressive brushwork and vivid, sometimes unconventional color.
