Venus is a Pop Art interpretation of Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus. It combines historic subject matter with bold color, hand embellishment , heavy physical customization, graphic style, and contemporary Pop Art sensibility. This example is an artist proof, numbered AP 46/50, from an artist-proof edition of fifty. Utilizing thick, textured oil paint layers over the underlying screen print resulting in surfaces that are highly tactile. No two proofs in the 50-run look identical because the brushstrokes vary entirely.
