An iconic Jens Risom lounge chair for Knoll, featuring tomato red cotton webbing and a light maple frame. Designed in 1943, the chair reflects Risom’s Scandinavian design sensibility through its clean geometry, gentle curves, and functional modern form.

This example is in like-new condition and was personally signed by Jens Risom in 2016, the year of his passing. The chair was gifted to our consignor by Risom’s nephew, giving it a unique provenance and direct connection to the designer.

About the Designer:
Jens Risom (1916–2016) was a Danish-American furniture designer and one of the key figures in bringing Scandinavian modern design to the United States. His 1943 collection for Knoll was the company’s first commissioned furniture collection and helped establish Knoll as an early leader in American modern design. Known for his refined use of wood, woven materials, and understated forms, Risom’s work remains highly regarded for its warmth, simplicity, and enduring modern appeal.
