Hilda Bellanca “Stadium Crowd”
Oil on canvas
Signed on canvas by artist
26 × 31

A bold, energetic abstract composition that captures the movement and density of a packed crowd through layered forms and expressive linework. Bellanca’s use of olive greens, sky blues, ochres, and deep black creates a rhythmic, almost musical sense of motion across the canvas. Strong Mid-Century influence with the kind of scale and presence that anchors a room instantly.
Hilda W. Bellanca (1924–2023) was an American artist born in Buffalo, New York, who later lived and worked in Los Angeles, California. She is known for her contribution to the art department of the 1957 television series Code 3, for which she provided paintings for an episode. Though little is documented about her independent artistic career, her surviving works reflect the character and sensibility of mid-century American painting. Bellanca spent much of her later life in California and remained connected to the creative community surrounding film and television production.
