About the Artist: Gregory Henry is a sculptor, painter, teacher, and storyteller whose work draws on the objects, icons, and fables of his native Guyana. Based in Newport News, Virginia, he serves on the faculty at Christopher Newport University, where he teaches sculpture, ceramics, drawing, and other visual arts. Henry earned his BFA from Ohio University and his MFA from the Reinhart School of Sculpture at the Maryland Institute College of Art. His work is held in major collections including the Corcoran Gallery (Washington, D.C.), the Harriet Tubman Museum (Atlanta), Ronald Reagan International Airport, The Studio Museum in Harlem, Artscape (Baltimore), the Kansas African American Museum (Wichita), and the Kennedy Museum of Art (Ohio University).
