Artist Bio:
Aina Nergaard (b. 1919) was born in Spain to a family with a long artistic tradition among the women. She and her American husband moved to Washington, D.C. in 1957, where they lived until 1997, when they relocated to Lewes, Delaware. A highly recognized and prolific artist before her retirement, Nergaard pursued vibrant, balanced compositions in which form and color exist in harmony. She relied heavily on intuition to capture the feeling of each scene, repeatedly studying her compositions to ensure she achieved the simple but strong impact she sought in her disciplined effort to “avoid chaos.” The paintings of hers at Consignment House clearly reflect the artistic success of that approach.
