Dorothy Norris Moses, Untitled Abstract
Year: c. Late 20th Century

Size: 41" × 32"
A richly layered abstract composition featuring textured planes of soft pastels, mauve, and cream accented by deeper tones of plum and sienna. Moses’s expressive, tactile surface reflects her experimental approach to medium and form, blending painting and collage to create depth and rhythm across the canvas. The result is both sculptural and atmospheric — a vibrant example of her bold, intuitive style.
Artist Bio:
Dorothy Norris Moses (1931–2021) was born in Thomas, Oklahoma, and was a self-taught artist who discovered her love for art in her thirties after her father passed away. She studied with local artists and attended workshops with the Oklahoma Watercolor Society. An encounter with artist Robert Kaupelis encouraged her to embrace a freer, more expressive approach. Moses worked in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, textiles, and painting, and shared her talent through teaching workshops at colleges and art centers.
