Mauricio Esperon has been painting since 2002. Originally from Montevideo, Uruguay, he now lives in Staunton, Virginia. Esperon observes primitive objects around him and wants to create meaningful art about the every-day and commonplace. Esperon mainly does abstract and uses an expressionist style in his paintings. He likes to paint on wood canvases and uses acrylic and oil paint. Esperon also recycles old paintings and creates new art from previously used canvases. “What inspires me is to, one day, leave behind something great; something my boys are going to be proud of,” said Esperon. He is also featured in an upcoming Arts Council of the Valley show. He would like to create more art, but his creative work is part-time… for now.
