Artist Bio:
Aina Nergaard (b. 1919) was born in Spain to a family with a long tradition of women artists. She and her American husband moved to Washington, D.C. in 1957, remaining there until relocating to Lewes, Delaware in 1997.
A highly recognized and prolific artist prior to her retirement, Nergaard pursued compositions marked by vibrancy and balance, aiming for harmony between form and color while relying strongly on intuition to convey the feeling of a scene. In her disciplined effort to “avoid chaos,” she continually refined each composition to achieve clarity and impact. The works of hers at Consignment House exemplify the strength and success of that approach.
