Artist Bio:
Marcia Solomon Schwan (1930–2022) lived in Tidewater, Virginia for nearly 70 years. Born in Baltimore, she developed a lifelong passion for art beginning in childhood, winning first prize in a competition hosted by The Walters Art Museum. While maintaining a daily painting practice, she audited classes at Old Dominion University with artists Charles Sibley and Norman Goodwin, who became both mentors and close friends. Deeply connected to the regional arts community, Schwan exhibited her work widely in museums and galleries throughout the area.
