Artist Bio:
Aina Nergaard (b. 1919, Spain) came from a family with a long artistic tradition among the women. She and her American husband settled in Washington, D.C. in 1957, later moving to Lewes, Delaware in 1997. A highly regarded and prolific painter before her retirement, Nergaard was known for her pursuit of vibrant, balanced compositions in which form and color coexist in harmony. Her disciplined process emphasized intuition and control, striving to “avoid chaos” while achieving a simple yet powerful visual impact.
